Fire damaged a residence in Fond du lac County Thursday afternoon.  The fire at N7697 County Road C in the town of Eldorado was reported shortly before 3pm Thursday.  The fire appeared to have started in the roof of the residence and is under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.  Nobody was injured.

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain says alcohol and failure to wear seatbelts were factors in more than half of the traffic fatalities on Fond du Lac County roads last year. Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says there were 12 trraffic fatalities in the county in 2015.  "Of those 12 nine of them happened within six months,"  Olig told WFDL news.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A juror involved in the homicide case that spawned the popular Netflix series "Making a Murderer" says she stands by the verdict. The 10-part series about the convictions of Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey, which casts doubt on the legal process in the case, has been a huge hit. But Diane Free tells the Associated Press she's "comfortable with the verdict we reached."

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two Republican legislators are trying again to drum up support for a measure that would increase penalties for repeat offenders. Representative Jim Ott and Senator Alberta Darling urged the Senate judiciary committee during a hearing Thursday to approve their proposal to change a fourth offense from a misdemeanor to a felony punishable by up to three years in prison.

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — The Sheboygan County sheriff is defending his decision to hire a man convicted of killing and dismembering his girlfriend nearly 40 years ago. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The University of Wisconsin-Madison plans to end its dairy sheep research program and get rid of hundreds of ewes in northwestern Wisconsin.
