WOODSTOCK, Ill. (AP) — A Cub Scout camp in northern Illinois and two boy scout camps in Wisconsin are expected to close because of declining attendance and financial losses.  The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that the Chicago-area Scout council board adopted a resolution this week to close the camps. 10-12-15 johnson says poll numbers are “meaningless”

Republican Senator Ron Johnson is bringing his re-election campaign to Dodge County Monday.  Johnson will be attending Horicon  Bank’s annual employee meeting  at Old Hickory Golf Club in Beaver Dam.  Meanwhile, Johnson says polls showing him trailing Democrat Russ Feingold are “completely meaningless.”   Johnson made the comments at a luncheon Friday hosted by Wispolitics.com.  A Marquette Law School poll released last month showed Feingold leading Johnson by 14 points.

10-12-15 fdl judge sentences former martial arts instructor to prison

A former  Campbellsport martial arts instructor convicted of sexually assaulting one of his students is going to prison.  At a hearing Friday Fond du Lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced 44 year old William Schellinger to 12 years in prison followed by 15 years extended supervision.  Before handing down his sentence Judge Grimm laid into Schellinger calling him a “whiny little brat”  for not taking responsibility for his actions and trying […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin state Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and 19 other Republican state lawmakers are endorsing Florida Senator Marco Rubio for president. Vos announced their backing Friday, 18 days after Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker dropped out of the presidential race. Rubio is coming to Wisconsin next month to raise money for Vos and Wisconsin Assembly Republicans.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A woman who was seriously hurt by a foul ball at a Milwaukee Brewers game this summer is getting some help from her friends.  Laura Turek was hit by a line drive in the ninth inning of a game at Miller Park in early July. 10-10-15 judge taps bradley for supreme court vacancy

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has appointed conservative-backed appellate judge Rebecca Bradley to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.  Walker introduced Bradley at a news conference Friday. The widely expected move, first reported by The Associated Press earlier Friday, will have Bradley finishing the term of late Justice Patrick Crooks.  Even more important, it gives Bradley the advantage of incumbency next year when she runs for a full 10-year term. 10-10-15 uw regents approve lifting uw-madison out of state cap

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents has approved lifting the cap on out-of-state undergraduates at UW-Madison.  The system currently caps the number of out-of-state undergraduates at 27.5 percent of the total undergraduate population at each campus.
