8-19-15 fdl child sex offender-notification

Another convicted child sex offender has been released back into the city of Fond du Lac.  Fond du Lac police say Elijah Thomas was released from prison this month after serving additional time for rule violations while on extended supervision.  He is living at 457 Thomas Street.  Thomas served five years in prison for sexually assaulting 13 and 14 year old female acquaintances and disorderly conduct.

8-19-15 plymouth man sentenced in child porn case

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Federal prosecutors in Maine say a Wisconsin man will spend five years in prison for transporting child pornography.  Twenty-three-year-old Ryan Jeremiah Abbott of Plymouth, Wisconsin, will also spend seven years in supervised release. He pleaded guilty in April.  Court records say Abbott sent eight emails to an undercover special agent with the federal Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Maine. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Economists credit the state's unemployment rate and pent up demand for Wisconsin's strong showing so far this year in residential real estate.  The Wisconsin Realtors Association says the sales of existing homes rose nearly 17 percent in July from a year ago, with more than 8,650 homes sold last month. Agnesian HealthCare has announced a fundraising effort to expand the Hospice Home of Hope.   The fundraising goal is $2.5 million to help fund a 7,300 square foot addition, nearly doubling its current size. The expansion- slated to begin in spring 2016 - will add 10 new private rooms increasing total rooms to 22. 8-19-15 hospice hope charity open raffle winners

Patients and families of Agnesian HealthCare’s Hospice Hope are the  big winners in this year’s Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Charity Open.   The grand prize winner of a 2015 Ford Escape or $15,000 in cash is Mike Melzer of Allenton.  Terry Mabee of Fond du lac won the second prize of $5000 cash.   Preliminary figures indicate that a total of $294,000 was raised for Hospice Hope.

8-19-15 marian university grant

Marian University has been awarded a five-year, $1 million TRiO-Student Support Services program grant through the U.S. Department of Education.  Beginning next month the University will be awarded $220,000 annually throughout the duration of the grant.  This grant is the second five-year TRiO-SSS grant that Marian University has received.  The goal of the educational program is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants.
