The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the first phase of expanding Highway 23 to four lanes between Fond du Lac and Plymouth will not take place this year.  The project was put on hold last month after a federal judge ruled the DOT used inflated traffic forecasts to justify the project.    The $10 million first phase involved a seven mile stretch of road between Plymouth and the Sheboygan-FDL County line. The state Department of Workforce Development says unemployment rates increased in the majority of Wisconsin counties and 30 of the state's 32 largest cities in May.  The city of Fond du Lac’s unemployment rate in May is 4.8 percent, up from 4.2 percent in April.  Fond du Lac County’s jobless rate increased four tenths of a percent to 4.2 percent.  The Dodge County unemployment rate stands at 4.5 percent up […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two Democratic members of the board that runs Governor Scott Walker's troubled economic development agency are calling for the CEO of the organization to resign. Reed Hall has led the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation since October 2012. State Rep. Peter Barca and state Sen. Julie Lassa say Hall hasn't done enough to stop wrongdoing and mismanagement of taxpayer money.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A white-tailed deer in Eau Claire County has tested positive for chronic wasting disease. The state agriculture department says the doe, which has died, was among 167 animals on a breeding farm. The herd was placed under quarantine. Investigators from the department are working to trace the animal's movements to see if any other herds would have been exposed.
