6-19-15 wisconsin unemployment rate up

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin's unemployment rate increased to 4.6 percent in May, up from 4.4 percent in April.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported the latest figures Thursday. The state came in below the national unemployment rate of 5.5 percent for the month and the previous year's rate in May, also 5.5 percent. 6-19-15 ripon man bound over for trial in fatal crash

A Ripon man has been bound over for trial in connection with a fatal car versus motorcycle accident in Fond du lac County last summer.  Travis Hartman waived his preliminary hearing on a charge of homicide by negligient operation of a motor vehicle.  Hartman is free on a three thousand dollar signature bond. 6-19-15 vandalism at fondy jr football league building

Fond du Lac police are investigating a vandalism incident at the Fondy Jr. Football League building.  The facility is located on Morris Street, just off 9th Street.  Police say vandals tipped over a couple of the metal picnic tables under the awning next to the building.  A still picture of one of the alleged perpetrators making an obscene gesture at a security camera was posted on the League’s Facebook page. A Fond du Lac mountaineer who survived deadly earthquake on Mount Everest will share his story during a presentation this week.  Andy Land will make a slideshow presentation at 7pm Thursday  at the Marian University Stayer Center.  There will be a five dollar charge and Land says the proceeds will go to the Sherpa Fund to help earthquake victims.  Land’s climbing team was rescued by helicopter after the earthquake struck.
