2-20-15 waupun council to discuss potential prison tower budget cuts

The Waupun Common Council will discuss proposed cuts that would affect the Waupun Correctional Institution at a meeting next week.  Under his budget proposal, governor Scott Walker would eliminate about 400 positions across state government, including third-shift prison  guards positioned in towers. 2-20-15 boil water advisory in brandon

A boil water advisory continues in the village of Brandon until test results on water samples are received…probably sometime this weekend.  Public Health officer Kim Mueller says the advisory was issued Thursday  following a water main break In the village.  "In the village of Brandon they had a little over 50,000 gallons of water that leaked out and so that drops the (water) pressure,"  Mueller told WFDL news.

2-20-15 campbellsport fire apparently started in attached garage

Investigators say it appears a fire that destroyed a Campbellsport area home this week started in an attached garage.  Two people escaped the fire on Timberlane Drive without injury.  Two pets died in the blaze.  Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says fire crews were also battling bitter cold wind chills.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.   Olig says its fortunate one person was still awake early in the […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker is proposing that state employees be offered $2,000 a year to opt out of state health insurance coverage.  A state-commissioned study by Deloitte Consulting says the incentive could generate $18 million in savings if enough employees take the offer. Fond du Lac High School Youth Apprenticeship students traveled to Madison legislators’ offices to learn more about their roles at this level of government. The third annual World Jam Day was held on February 12 at 10 a.m. with students across the United States exercising together.  Prior to that date schools were asked to sign up and commit to exercising.
