The Fond du Lac Public Works director says he believes it makes more sense to replace an historic bridge at Lakeside Park rather than spending more money to rehabilitate it.  Seventy-thousand dollars is earmarked in this year’s capital improvement plan to replace the bridge.  Jordan Skiff says a non profit  Iowa-based company that specializes in saving historic bridges estimates the cost to restore the bridge at $110,000. 1-29-15 local unemployment rate up

The local unemployment rate is up slightly in the latest reporting period.  The city of Fond du lac’s unemployment rate for December is 5.3 percent, up from five percent in November.  The Fond du Lac County  rate stands at 4.6 percent, up three-tenths of a percent.  In Dodge County the jobless rate is up three tenths of a percent to 5.4 percent.
