4-16-24 st. mary church bell rededication ceremony

St. Mary's Church in downtown Fond du Lac is celebrating the rededication of a civil-war era bell with a new automated bell system.   Holy Family Catholic Community's Sarah Razner says the 2,000 pound bronze bell has rung throughout downtown Fond du Lac for more than 150 years.  Razner says the bell, named the "Immaculate Conception," was installed in the original St. Mary Church in 1866.  A rededication ceremony was held Monday morning […]

4-16-24 red cross encourages blood donations during national volunteer month

The American Red Cross is encouraging residents to donate blood and platelets during National Volunteer Month in April.   American Red Cross in Wisconsin spokeswoman Laura McGuire says donors of all blood types, especially type O blood donors and those giving platelets are needed.  McGuire says the Red Cross depends on volunteer blood donors to collect about 12,000 blood donations every day. The Fond du Lac County Health Department is offering free testing in observance of Sexually Transmitted Infection Awareness month.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says more than 2.5 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis were reported in the U.S. in 2022.  Mueller says STIs must be treated as a public health priority.
