OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting another investigation in Oshkosh, but won't divulge the reason.  FBI agents in unmarked vehicles were parked outside an apartment building and garage on Thursday. The Fond du Lac metro (Fond du Lac County) ranked 27th in the nation for low crime rates in 2013.  CQ Press ranked 350 metro areas based on FBI crime statistics.  The rankings measured murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. The DNR says state residents and businesses are recycling more…and that appears to be the case in Fond du Lac as well.   Statewide residents and businesses recycled about 831,000 tons of paper products and food and beverage containers last year…up 79,000 tons from 2012.  Fond du lac Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says nearly 3,000 tons of recycled material was collected locally last year.

11-21-14 wi unemployment rate down slightly

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin's unemployment rate stands at 5.4 percent in October, dropping slightly from 5.5 percent the previous month.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported Thursday that the state added 4,000 private sector jobs over the last month at the same time unemployment went down.  The unemployment rate is the lowest since the recession in October 2008. 11-21-14 hefty cash bail ordered in fdl heroin overdose case

A third person has been charged in the heroin overdose death of a Fond du lac County man two years ago.  Alonzo Cornelius of Milwaukee made his initial Fond du lac Court appearance Thursday on charges of first degree reckless homicide-delivery of drugs and manufacture-delivery of heroin as a repeater.  Bail was set at $250,000 cash.   Cornelius is the third person charged in the heroin overdose death of town […]
