10-23-14 milwaukee men convicted in major fdl retail theft case

It didn’t take a Fond du Lac jury long to convict two Milwaukee men in a retail theft case this week.    Silas Hampton and Vance Burnside were on trial accused of stealing nearly $900 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Fond du Lac.  District attorney Eric Toney says the trial proceeded even though both defendants failed to show up in court.  "I've never had that happen before and in talking […]

10-23-14 former waupun police officer faces burglary charges in city of fdl

Fond du lac police have referred burglary charges to the District Attorney’s Office against a former Waupun police Lieutenant.  Police have referred charges against Brad Young for burglaries at nine businesses in 2010 and 2011.  The charges are expected to be consolidated with burglary charges Young faces in Green Lake County.  Young was arrested in August of 2013 following a muti-county crime spree.

10-23-4 fdl budget adoption postponed

The Fond du Lac city council has postponed adoption of the 2015  budget until their next meeting.  The proposed budget includes a property tax rate increase of  5.4 percent or 45 cents per thousand dollars of equalized value.  The owner of a $150,000 home would see an increase of about $68.    Director of Administration Hal Wortman warned the council about the potential risks of using a projected $1.54 million […]
