10-17-14 wi unemployment rate down

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The last jobs report before the Nov. 4 election contains a double-dose of good news for Gov. Scott Walker.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported Thursday that Wisconsin's unemployment rate dropped to 5.5 percent in September and 8,400 private-sector jobs were added.  The unemployment rate is the lowest since the recession in October 2008. Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction figures show about half of public school districts will get more state aid this year than the previous school year.  The state will provide nearly $4.5 billion in general aid to schools for the 2014-2015 school year, an increase of about 2 percent. Dodge County Sheriff Pat Ninmann has announced that she will run as a write-in candidate in the election for sheriff on November 4th. The Dodge County Clerk’s Office received written notice Wednesday that Ninmann would run as a write-in against Sheriff’s Sergeant Dale Schmidt.
