The Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday shows Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Democratic challenger Mary Burke tied among registered voters.  Walker and Burke both had 46 percent support. APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — Lawrence University in Appleton says it's received an anonymous $25 million donation to support scholarships — the largest gift in the school's history.  Lawrence leaders said Wednesday it's a dollar-for-dollar matching gift that will make $50 million in new money available for scholarships. 9-17-14 town of fox lake murder suspect surrenders

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect  in the murder of a town of Fox Lake man. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Thousands of Wisconsin voters who requested absentee ballots will have to present copies of their photo identification to have those ballots counted.  A federal appeals court on Friday reinstated the photo ID requirement, after more than 11,800 voters requested absentee ballots. 9-17-14 school report cards

Report cards for Wisconsin schools and school districts show that the majority meet or exceed expectations for student achievement and academic engagement in the 2013-14 school year. Overall, 88.3 percent of schools and 98.1 percent of districts with accountability scores had ratings of meets expectations or better.  In Fond du Lac County Oakfield, Ripon and Rosendale-Brandon schools exceed expectations.  All other school districts in Fond du Lac county meet expectations.  […]

9-17-14 stem academy lockdown

The STEM Academy in Fond du Lac was placed on lockdown for about 20 minutes Tuesday after school officials received a false report that a student had a knife.  School officials say there was no knife present.  The STEM Academy is located on South Military Road.

A Waupun man faces charges after barricading himself in his home Sunday.   Waupun police were called to the 600 block of Morse Street around 8:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of a suicidal man who possibly was armed.
