7-27-23 unemployment rate is up

The area unemployment rate was up in June.  The city of Fond du Lac's jobless rate stands at 3.7-percent, up from 2.6 percent in May.  In Fond du Lac County the unemployment rate jumped one percent to 3.2 percent last month, and in Dodge County the rate jumped seven-tenths of a percent to 3.1 percent.

7-26-23 fdl basement fire

A Fire that started in a basement caused extensive damage to it Fond du Lac home. Firefighters were called to the scene on County Road K about 9pm Tuesday to find heavy smoke in the basement. The fire was quickly extinguished but not before it caused extensive damage.  Nobody was injured and the cause is under investigation.

7-26-23 serious injury motorcycle crash

One person was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Fond du Lac County.  The crash happened shortly before 8pm Tuesday on Highway 23 west of Pit Road.  A 36 year old Wild Rose man was flown by helicopter to Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah.  The Sheriff's Office says speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

HAMPSTEAD, N.C. (AP) — Three men who were found dead over the weekend at a North Carolina gas station have been identified as Marine lance corporals from Camp Lejeune. The U.S. Marine Corps identified the men as Tanner J. Kaltenberg, of Madison, Wisconsin; Merax C. Dockery; of Pottawatomie, Oklahoma; and Ivan R. Garcia, of Naples, Florida. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former Wisconsin prosecutor accused of secretly recording sex with two women has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. St. Croix County Judge Scott Nordstrand sentenced former Burnett County District Attorney Daniel Steffen on Monday on three counts of capturing intimate representations. 7-26-23 two year old grandson of bucks coach griffin dies in illinois

URBANA, Ill. (AP) — The 2-year-old grandson of Milwaukee Bucks coach Adrian Griffin died Saturday after the child’s father found him unresponsive earlier in the day. Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup says Jayce D. Griffin of Urbana, Illinois, was pronounced dead Saturday at 10:40 a.m. at the Carle Foundation Hospital.
