An Oshkosh man convicted of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from an elderly nursing home resident is going to prison.  Sixty four year old Terry Lynn Culver has been sentenced to three years in prison followed by six years extended supervision.  The court allowed the state to seize Culver's home to pay restitution owed to the victim's estate.  Authoritites say Culver stole over $427,000 from a 92-year-old resident of a nursing home while […]

The Federal Reserve's favored inflation gauge slowed sharply last month.   Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs says its an encouraging sign in the Fed's yearlong effort to cool price pressures through steadily higher interest rates.   The Commerce Department report showed that consumer prices rose 0.3 percent from January to February, down from a 0.6 percent increase from December to January.   The report also showed that consumer spending dropped from a month earlier, […]

4-3-23 motorcycle crash-dodge county

One person was seriously injured when two motorcycles collided in Dodge County.  The crash happened shortly before 8pm Sunday night on Highway T near Stark Road.   A 33 year old Waterloo man was flown by helicopter to UW Hospital in Madison with serious but non life-threatening injuries.  The operator of the other motorcycle received minor injuries and a passenger was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  The Sheriff's Office says alcohol was […]

SAN DIEGO (AP) — John Brockington, a former All-Pro fullback who ranks fourth on the Green Bay Packers’ career rushing list, has died. He was 74. The Packers announced that Brockington died Friday in San Diego. Brockington played for the Packers from 1971-77 and rushed for 5,024 yards during that stretch.
