A Green Lake County project is one of more than 70 applications received by the state Public Service Commission requesting a total of nearly $74 million for the state Broadband Expansion Grant Program. The Brightspeed project will be designed to reach 40 businesses, and 853 residential customers in Brooklyn, Green Lake, Kingston, Macford, Manchester, Markesan and Ripon. The 2023 sturgeon spearing season came to a close Sunday with 53 sturgeon harvested on Lake Winnebago including four juvenile females, 29 adult females, and 20 males. In total 1,405 fish were harvested on the Lake Winnebago system including 155 juvenile females, 599 adult females, and 651 males. That compares to 1,519 sturgeon harvested last season.
