Nobody was injured in a fire that caused minor damage to the porch of a home in Fond du Lac.  Shortly after 4:30pm Tuesday firefighters were called to the scene at 229 Ellis Street and quickly extinguished the smoldering fire.  Before firefighters arrived the occupants had used a fire extinguisher to knock down the fire.  Firefighters overhauled the area where the fire started and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. photo: fdl […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The daughter of former Wisconsin Gov. Tony Earl says he suffered a stroke this week and is now receiving palliative care. The 86-year-old Earl is a Democrat who served one term as governor from 1983 to 1987. He was a champion of gay rights and a staunch environmentalist.
