Fond du Lac Firefighters and Alliant Energy Crews were called Tuesday afternoon for a report of a gas leak. Fire Chief Erik Gerritsen says shortly after 2pm Tuesday Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue received a call that a contractor accidentally struck a gas main at 114 South Bell Street. Gerritsen says a two block area was evacuated until Alliant Energy could repair the leak.
A Fond du Lac man arrested last year in connection with a 2016 mailbox bombing on Doty Street has been convicted. One person was injured in the incident. Improperly discarded smoking materials on the deck are blamed for a fire that damaged the kitchen at the Blandine House in Fond du Lac.
