The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has identified cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza in backyard flocks in Marathon and Waukesha counties. Birds at both sites have been depopulated to prevent spread of the disease.  This year, 18 Wisconsin counties, including Fond  du Lac County,  have been confirmed with bird flu in domestic birds. (AP) — Authorities say a 9-year-old Wisconsin elementary school student may have saved the life of one of her classmates by peforming the Heimlich maneuver on her as she choked during lunch. 11-11-22 fdl man charged in fleet farm burglary

Fond du Lac police investigators believe a suspect arrested for the theft of firearms and ammunition from Fleet Farm planned to sell the guns for drugs.  Twenty nine year old Elihu Espinoza is charged with five counts of felon in possession of a firearm, burglary, and criminal damage to property.  Bail was set at $25,000 cash.  The Fond du Lac man was arrested following a traffic stop last week.  Police Chief Aaron Goldstein […]

SPRING VALLEY, Wis. (AP) — A nurse in Wisconsin has been accused of amputating a hospice patient's foot without his consent and without doctor's orders. Elder abuse charges filed last week say 38-year-old Mary Brown, of Durand, told colleagues she wanted to display it at her family's taxidermy shop. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin wildlife officials have released their first new wolf management plan in almost a quarter-century but it doesn't establish any statewide population goals. The Department of Natural Resources adopted a plan in 1999 that called for capping the statewide wolf population at 350 animals.
