Waupun police have arrested a man who created a scare after residents heard gunshots. Shortly before 1pm Monday a resident called police reporting that she heard what sounded like a gunshot fired from a vehicle in the area of a junk dealership on Jackson Street in an area near the Mill Pond. Police responded and located two individuals who said they were shooting at squirrels. Police are continuing their investigation.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — An Oshkosh man convicted of stealing more than $426,000 from a 92-year-old nursing home resident is scheduled to be sentenced in January. A jury earlier this month found Terry Culver guilty of eight felonies. HARTLAND, Wis. (AP) — Police say six people died in an apartment fire in the southern Wisconsin village of Hartland, not seven as originally reported. The state’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.2 percent in September, as Wisconsin continues to make progress in regaining the jobs lost during the pandemic. That’s according to Department of Workforce Development Chief Economist Dennis Winters. After fall weather settled in a couple weeks ago summer-like weather is returning to Wisconsin this weekend. National Weather Service meteorologist Aidan Kuroski says high temps this weekend are forecast in the low 70s, and possibly close to 80 degrees in southern Wisconsin. Strong winds are also in the forecast with wind gusts in excess of 30 miles an hour at times.
