Two people were seriously injured in separate crashes in Fond du Lac Friday night, one involving a scooter and another a moped.  Shortly after 9pm Friday an  individual attempting to cross Scott Street near Mill Street on a scooter was struck by a vehicle.  The scooter operator was transported to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee with life-threatening injuries.   Police were working  to positively  identify the scooter operator. Residents are on the road this Labor Day Holiday weekend for one last long weekend vacation this summer.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Lieutenant Chris Dobyns says deputies will be out in force looking for traffic violations.  The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign targeting drunken driving continues through the holiday weekend.

Nobody was injured in a fire that destroyed a garage in Fond du Lac.  Firefighters were called to 440 Grove Street shortly after 1am Friday and quickly knocked down the fully involved fire before it could spread to nearby structures.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. photo: fdl fire and rescue
