5-24-24 explorers discover possible wreckage of world war II ace richard bong’s plane

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Searchers announced Thursday they've discovered what they believe is the wreckage of World War II ace Richard Bong's plane in the South Pacific.  The Richard I. 5-24-24 number of fatal overdose deaths in united states dropped last year

The number of US fatal overdoses fell last year.  The Centers for Disease Control  and Prevention says about 107,500 people died of overdoses in the US last year.   That's down three percent from 2022.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the decline is relatively small.   "I would say overall it's a good thing, it's one year though, so it's unknown if it's going to spike up again,"  […]

5-24-24 homeless man charged in fdl county with fentanyl overdose death

A  homeless man from Mayville has been charged in the fentynal overdose death of  a Waupun man.   Twenty six year old Dylan Mayne made his initial Fond du Lac Court appearance this week on a charge of First Degree Reckless Homicide.  Bail was set at  $500,000 cash.   A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 27.  The charge carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

5-24-24 local unemployment rate plummets

The local unemployment rate continues to fall.     The Dodge County unemployment rate stands at 2.5 percent in April, down from 3.0 in March.   The Fond du Lac County jobless rate dropped four tenths of a percent to 2.5 percent.   The city of Fond du Lac's unemployment rate was 2.9 percent last month, down from 3.3 percent the month before.
