The Salvation Army Kettles, each a cheerful Christmas red, will stand tall throughout Fond du Lac until December 24.   Seventeen kettles with volunteer bell-ringers and 87 counter top “minis” welcome passersby, at several Fond du Lac locations.  This year’s Red Kettle Christmas Appeal seeks $150,000 through kettle contributions. 11-27-15 burnett man charged with burglary

A Burnett man is facing a burglary charge after he called his mother from the phone inside the apartment he allegedly burglarized.  29 year old Keaton Koch is charged with burglary of a building or dwelling in Dodge County Circuit Court.  Officers were called to the 200 block of South Spring Street on Sunday for a burglary.  A number of items were taken including electronics equipment and clothes.  The victim […]

WAUTOMA, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say they've found a person involved in the fatal shooting of a hunter near Redgranite in east-central Wisconsin.  Gregory Welk of Mount Morris was shot just before sunset Monday while he hunted on his land. 11-27-15 october unemployment numbers

The  October unemployment rate locally didn’t change much from the month before.   The Dodge County jobless rate dipped just one tenth of a percent  to 3.5 in October, while the Fond du Lac County rate was unchanged at 3.1 percent.   In the city of Fond du Lac the October jobless rate is 3.3 percent…down from 3.4 percent in September.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Cancer and heart disease continue to be the most common causes of death in Wisconsin in 2014.  The state Department of Health Services reports Tuesday that 50,137 Wisconsin residents died in 2014. That is up 220 from 2013.  Cancer and heart disease accounted for 45 percent of all deaths, followed by unintentional injuries, chronic lower respiratory diseases and stroke.
