Sources inside the Waupun Correctional Institution say a correctional officer was severely beaten by an inmate. The incident was reported Friday afternoon during second shift. Sources tell WFDL news the female officer was dragged into a secluded area and physically assaulted. She was transported to the hospital, but the extent of her injuries is unknown. New election equipment for Fond du Lac County is arriving this week. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says the equipment is scheduled to arrive Tuesday afternoon. The sign-up deadline for the Fond du Lac Salvation Army Coats for Kids campaign is being extended. Salvation Army captain Telinda Wilson says people who didn’t meet last Monday’s deadline, have until this Thursday to sign up. "The only last sign-up will be Thursday from 2pm to 5pm at our building," Wilson said. Wilson says once again the Fond du Lac community has stepped up to donate winter coats.

A Fond du Lac man has been convicted of setting fire to his home. Twenty nine year old Colin Habram pleaded no contest to arson and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 30th. Habram was accused of setting fire to a residence at 410 Ellis Street April 14th to collect insurance money to buy heroin.
