10-2-15 democrats call for special session on road funding

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic lawmakers are demanding Republican Governor Scott Walker call a special legislative session to deal with a shortfall in road project funding. Walker proposed borrowing $1.3 billion for roads in the state budget, and Republican legislators scaled that back to $500 million. Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling and some Assembly Democrats on Thursday demanded the governor call a special session to approve additional funding.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A group of state lawmakers has proposed a bill that would raise Wisconsin's cap on compensation for wrongful convictions from $25,000 to $1 million.  Wisconsin currently offers the wrongly convicted $5,000 for every year of incarceration, up to $25,000. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The University of Wisconsin System regents are set to consider lifting the limit on out-of-state students at UW-Madison. The regents' education committee is scheduled to consider a proposal to waive the limit on October 8th. Currently, out-of-state undergraduate enrollment at any UW campus can't exceed 27.5 percent of the total undergraduate enrollment.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A bill that would legalize blaze pink clothing for hunters is set for a public hearing in Madison. The Assembly's natural resources committee has scheduled the hearing for October 14th at the state Capitol. A bipartisan group of legislators says the proposal is designed to attract more women to hunting.

10-1-15 brandon man dies from injuries suffered in weekend crash

A Brandon man has died from injuries received in a two vehicle  crash on Highway 151 in Dodge County over the weekend.  The Dodge County Sheriff’s Department says 78 year old Orville Kemink died Wednesday afternoon at the hospital.  Kemink was critically injured in the crash Sunday afternoon at the intersection of 151 and Oakwood Road.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says Kemink was in the median crossover on 151 when he […]
