Fond du Lac’s oldest summer brown bag lunch program begins its twenty second season packing and distributing free nutritious cold lunches to area eligible children and their families June 9. The director of a government watchdog group says its  time for lawmakers to reconsider a bill that would ban fundraising during the budget process.   The co-chair of the legislature’s budget committee postponed a fundraiser last week after criticism over its timing.  Common Cause in Wisconsin director, Jay Heck, says fundraising during budget deliberations has been an issue for politicians in both major parties depending on who is in control.

6-1-15 dot appealing hwy 23 ruling

The state Department of Transportation will get another opportunity to state its case on why Highway 23 needs to be expanded to four lanes.  The DOT is appealing a federal judge’s ruling halting the project between Fond du Lac and Plymouth.   The judge said the DOT overinflated its traffic projections  and a hearing is scheduled today.  Sheboygan state senator Devin Lemahieu says he is still upset that the judge waited […]

Construction will begin this week on a small stretch of Highway 151 in Fond du Lac.  Gov. Scott Walker has approved $625,000 for reconstruction of  point two miles of 151 near the Ducharme Parkway intersection.  Construction will begin Thursday and finish in August.  The project will involve adding the east leg of Ducharme Parkway to the existing three-legged intersection; and installing slotted left-turn lanes on 151.  Left turns and through movements […]

6-1-15 uw president says he’s grateful for cut reduction

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — University of Wisconsin System President Ray Cross says he is grateful that UW's budget cut is set to be reduced from $300 million to $250 million.  Cross reacted Friday to the plan by the Republican-controlled Joint Finance Committee to reduce Gov.
