MADISON, Wis. After responding to several grass fires over the last couple of weeks the Fond du Lac fire chief is asking residents to hold off on any controlled burns until things start to green up.  Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says a grass fire that scored a few acres in a ditch  along Highway 41 last week shows how quickly it can spread.

4-6-15 fdl man charged with sexually assaulting teen in fdl library bathroom

Bail was set at $1000 cash for a Fond du Lac man accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a bathroom at the Fond du Lac Public Library.  Twenty one year old Edmund Banach is charged with having sex with a child 16 or older and obstructing an officer, both misdemeanors.  According to a criminal complaint the girl told police that she was in the unisex bathroom on March […]

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A kitten that survived being tossed from a moving car in Milwaukee is now looking for a home.  The 4-week-old kitten was brought to the Wisconsin Humane Society by a woman who said she saw it thrown from a moving car.  Human Society spokeswoman Angela Speed says the woman, Julissa Rivera, named the kitten Buffy, but couldn't keep it because a tenant in her building has allergies. 4-6-15 bank robbery suspects appear in court

A man and woman from Oshkosh have been charged in connection with a robbery at the Guaranty Bank in Fond du Lac last month.  Twenty six year old Maranatha Henderson and 35 year old Shafia Jones made their initial Fond du lac court appearance Friday.  Judge Dale English ordered $25,000 cash bail for both and a joint preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 10th.   The Guaranty Bank inside the […]

4-6-15 fdl burglar gets prison for probation revocation

A Fond du Lac man convicted in a nearly year long spree of burglaries and thefts in the Fond du Lac area is going to prison on a probation revocation.  Charles Wals was initially placed on probation when he was convicted of burglary.  Theft and criminal damage to property charges were dismissed and read into the record.  Wals was back in court Thursday and judge Robert Wirtz lowered the boom. 4-6-15 careless use of smoking materials starts basement fire

Careless use of smoking materials are to blame for a basement fire in Fond du Lac.   Firefighters were called to a report of smoke in the basement at a Chinese restaurant at 18 North Main Street.  Investigators say a carelessly discarded cigarette fell along the foundation of the building causing debris to smolder.  There were no injuries.
