3-12-15 fox lake man convicted of sexually assaulting sleeping woman

A Fox Lake man  has been convicted of sexually assaulting a Fond du Lac woman while she slept.  A jury this week found 39 year old Marlin Snake guilty of second degree sexual assault of an unconscious victim and not guilty of criminal damage to property as a repeat offender.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 18th.  According to a criminal complaint, a Fond du Lac woman told police […]

The Fond du Lac city council has approved purchasing a building for a library expansion project..  At their meeting Wednesday night the council approved  a resolution amending the budget to spend $270,000 for the purchase of the building directly east of the library  on Sheboygan Street.  Library director Jon Mark Bolthouse says the first phase would involve moving the Book Cellar from the library basement to the new building.  The […]

3-12-15 fdl council votes to lift parking restrictions on 15th street

The Fond du Lac city council has voted to lift parking restrictions on 15th Street between Main Street and Park Avenue.  The restrictions were in place during street reconstruction last year and allow parking on just one side of the street.  City Engineer Paul De Vries said the street was widened to the standard width of 32 feet — wide enough to support parking on both sides of the street. 3-12-15 walker offers condolences to mother of madison shooting victim

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The mother of a 19-year-old biracial man shot and killed by a white Madison police officer has heard from Governor Scott Walker expressing his condolences for her loss. A spokeswoman for the governor says Walker called Andrea Irwin Wednesday afternoon. Irwin is the mother of Tony Robinson, who died Friday night after what police say was an assault of an officer.

3-12-15 local unemployment rate up

The January unemployment rate is up locally.  The city of Fond du Lac’s unemployment rate increased from 4.2 percent in December to five percent in January.  Fond du Lac county’s jobless rate is up  from 4.2 to 4.9 percent.  The Dodge county rate jumped  from 5.0 to 5.6 percent in January.  The statewide unemployment rate is five percent.
