(AP) — Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin are pushing a bill that would prohibit the Department of Natural Resources from enforcing new national regulations limiting pollution from wood-fired heaters.  Federal data from 2011, the latest available, show Wisconsin was second in the country in fine particle emissions from wood stoves, furnaces and heaters with 32,375 tons.  The bill's chief author, Rep. BROWN DEER, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has signed a right-to-work bill into law, striking another blow against organized labor four years after effectively ending collective bargaining for public-sector workers.  The Republican, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, signed the bill Monday morning. 3-9-15 new holstein superintendent dies suddenly

New Holstein school officials are in shock following the sudden death of  School Superintendent William Van Meer.  New Holstein police chief Brian Reedy says the 49 year old Van Meer died Thursday, March 5, of natural causes.  The cause of death has not been announced and an autopsy is being conducted.  Van Meer has been superintendent since 2011, replacing retired superintendent Joe Wieser.  His wife, Tina Van Meer, is superintendent […]

The Fond du Lac city council will consider purchasing a building for a library expansion project at their meeting this week.  The council will consider a resolution amending the budget to spend $270,000 for the purchase of the building directly east of the library on Sheboygan Street.  Library director Jon Mark Bolthouse says the first phase would involve moving the Book Cellar from the library basement to the new building.  […]

3-9-15 highway construction season nearing

The highway construction season is right around the corner in Fond du lac County.  Highway commissioner Tom Jahnke says work is expected to begin in about a month with the biggest project of the season on a five mile stretch of Highway I that runs parallel to Highway 41.  Jahnke says several other road projects are planned for the southeast section of the county.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A person familiar the negotiations says the Green Bay Packers have agreed to a four-year deal, $40 million deal with receiver Randall Cobb. The person spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Saturday night because no one was authorized to talk about the deal before it was officially announced.
