11-7-14 hot plate started town of trenton fire

The Waupun fire chief says its fortunate a man wasn’t injured in a fire that significantly damaged his home this week.  Chief B.J. DeMaa says the smoke alarms were not working.   "Its fortunate in that there were no working smoke alarms in the residence,"  DeMaa told WFDL news.  DeMaa says an electrical hot plate to warm food was accidentally left on and probably started the fire.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State regulators have approved a $9 increase in electric bills for hundreds of thousands of electric customers. Wisconsin Public Service Corporation had asked the state Public Service Commission for permission to raise monthly fixed rates from $10.44 to $25 and reduce hourly usage fees by two to three cents.
