10-23-14 local unemployment rate falls

The unemployment rate fell in almost every Wisconsin city and county in September.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported Wednesday that unemployment dropped in 31 of the 32 largest cities in September. 10-22-14 fdl jury says man was not mentally ill when he plowed his jeep into home

A Fond du Lac jury has determined a Ripon man was not suffering from a mental illness when he drove his jeep into his home and a neighbor’s house.  The jury returned the verdict against 37 year old Nathan Disterhaft even though two psychologists and a psychiatrist testified that Disterhaft did have a mental illness.   A sentencing hearing is scheduled for January  12th following a conviction of recklessly endangering […]

10-22-14 former waupun police lieutenant back in court next month

A plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled for next month for a former Waupun police officer accused of burglarizing three businesses in Green Lake County.  Bradley Young is accused of burglarizing a town of Green Lake restaurant and two grocery stores in Berlin and Markesan.  Young was arrested August 6th, 2013 following a multi county crime spree and high speed chase with law enforcement in northern Wisconsin.  He also faces […]

10-22-14 chilton farmer placed on probation for selling snow goose sausage

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A federal judge has ordered a Chilton game farm owner to serve five years' probation and pay $5,000 in fines for selling snow goose sausages. Fifty-year-old Todd Doughty, owner of the Thunderbird Game Farm, killed hundreds of snow geese in Nebraska in 2007. VIRGINA, Minn. (AP) — The gray wolf population has increased slightly in the Western Great Lakes District, which includes Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.  That comes even as two of the three states have recently begun allowing wolf hunts.
