Democratic attorney general Josh Kaul and a group of Wisconsin doctors are asking a Dane County judge for a final ruling that an 1849 Wisconsin law doesn’t apply to abortion, but refers to feticide instead.  They also sought to keep alive their arguments that the 1849 law isn’t enforceable as applied to abortion because subsequent statutes supersede it.  Judge Diane Schlipper last month rejected a motion to dismiss the suit Kaul filed  challenging the 1849 law.  Kaul […]

8-11-23 waupun truck n show

Hundreds of trucks from across the United States and Canada are in Waupun for the annual Waupun Truck-N-Show this weekend.  Waupun mayor Rohn Bishop says a highlight of the event is a parade  Friday night.  A parade Saturday allows  spectators to see the beautiful murals and other works of  art on each truck.  Admission to the Truck-n-Show festival grounds (Spring Street in Waupun) is free.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new telephone area code for southern Wisconsin is set to go into effect next month. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that the 353 area code will overlay the 608 area code region beginning Sept. 15. A St. Cloud man is in custody following a domestic incident and high speed chase. Shortly before 7pm Wednesday the Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a male who said he had been struck by his father and that his intoxicated father left the residence in a minivan. 8-10-23 sonic boom heard in fdl

In case you're wondering what that loud explosion-type sound was in the Fond du Lac area Wednesday afternoon, it wasn't an explosion.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the military is conducting training exercises and a jet broke the sound barrier causing a sonic boom.   Waldschmidt says several residents dialed 911 after hearing the noise shortly before 3pm Wednesday.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A milling company has agreed to pay $940,000 to settle a lawsuit alleging multiple violations at a plant that was the scene of a fatal explosion in 2017, state Justice Department officials announced Wednesday.  The agency sued Didion Milling Inc. in November 2020 alleging state inspectors discovered 30 violations that the company's Cambria corn mill in 2019, including emissions, record-keeping and reporting violations.
