3-21-23 meteorologists predict flood threats this spring

Meteorologists are predicting flood threats for a large portion of the U.S. this spring.   With gradually warming temperatures and repeated major snow events over the past several weeks the national weather service says flooding is a threat in the event of heavy rain in a short period of time.   Meanwhile, National Weather Service meteorologist Ben Miller, says overall this winter has been warmer than normal in Wisconsin.

3-21-23 man arrested for bringing gun into uw-milwaukee library

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A man was arrested after he allegedly brought a gun into a library at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The  25-year-old man was seen loading the gun in Golda Meir Library on Thursday afternoon. A spokesperson for the university police department said officers responded within two minutes but by the time they arrived the man had left. The Wisconsin Department of Revenue  is sending $3.9 million to more than 30,000 unclaimed property owners in  March, and for many, the delivery of a check will come as a surprise.  DOR annually matches tax records against the state's unclaimed property roll.   If DOR can definitively match tax records to an owner on the unclaimed property roll, the agency sends out checks automatically for those owed property valued at $2,000 or less and will send […]

3-21-23 van dyne porch fire

A cigarette butt apparently started a fire that damaged the porch of a Van Dyne grocery store/apartment unit.  Shortly after 3:30am Monday firefighters were called to the scene on Van Dyne Road, for a fire threatening the attached structure, which contained two apartments and Giese's Country Market.   Residents were safely evacuated and the fire was quickly extinguished.   A burning cigarette is apparently to blame for the fire.  Nobody was injured and […]

3-20-23 fatal crash dodge county

One person was killed in a one vehicle crash in Dodge County.  The crash happened shortly before 12:30am Sunday on the Highway 151 on-ramp at County Highway B.  Investigators say the car  traveled through the intersection, striking a sign in the median,  entered a ditch,   traveled down the embankment, striking a fence and a tree.  The 64 year old  male driver was pronounced dead at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam.
