3-13-23 fdl police continue to investigate shooting incident

3-13-23 laconia girls win division 4 basketball title

The Laconia High School girls basketball team hoisted the gold ball for the first time in the school's history.   The Spartans defeated top-seeded La Crosse Aquinas 64-51 in the Division 4 championship game Saturday at the Resch Center in Green Bay.    Laconia was the runner-up last year and in 2019.

3-13-23 state unemployment rate falls

The statewide unemployment rate fell to 2.9 percent in January.  The Department of Workforce Development says  Wisconsin added 4,100  nonfarm jobs over the month and 55,800 jobs over the year. Wisconsin's unemployment rate fell to 2.9% for January, down 0.1 percentage point from the revised 3% in December 2022.

3-10-23 fatal crash shuts down interstate 41 in fdl county

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Republicans blocked Gov. Tony Evers' plan Thursday to require student vaccinations against meningitis and tighten student chickenpox vaccination requirements.   The Legislature's GOP-controlled rules committee voted 6-4 to block the proposal.
