2-28-23 special interest groups set spending record in wi supreme court race

Special interest groups have set a spending record for a Wisconsin Supreme Court race, topping $5.6 million as of last week.  Executive director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, Matt Rothschild, says to date 16 groups have reported spending $5.63 million, breaking the previous record of  just over $5 million set in the 2020 Wisconsin Supreme Court race.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic Gov. Tony Evers wants bars to stay open until 4 a.m. next year during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. CBS 58 reported Monday that a provision in Evers' budget would allow bars in 14 counties surrounding Milwaukee to extend their hours to accommodate convention-goers. 2-28-23 broadband expansion grants

A Green Lake County project is one of more than 70 applications received by the state Public Service Commission requesting a total of nearly $74 million for  the state Broadband Expansion Grant Program. The Brightspeed project will be designed to reach 40 businesses, and  853 residential customers in Brooklyn, Green Lake, Kingston, Macford, Manchester, Markesan and Ripon.  The project is asking for $535,000 in grant money.  The Commission is expected to award up to $14.1 […]

2-28-23 sturgeon season ends

The 2023 sturgeon spearing season came to a close Sunday with 53 sturgeon harvested on Lake Winnebago including  four juvenile females, 29 adult females, and 20 males.  In total 1,405 fish were harvested on the Lake Winnebago system including 155 juvenile females, 599 adult females, and 651 males.   That compares to 1,519 sturgeon  harvested last season.
