Funeral arrangements are pending for a Fond du Lac police officer who has died from COVID-19.  Police Chief Aaron Goldstein says officer Joseph Kurer was 26 years old and had been with the department since August 2018.  Kurer was a member of the Tactical Field Force Team, Honor Guard Unit, Domestic Violence Intervention Team, and earlier this year was certified as a Field Training Officer.  He was a graduate of St. Mary's Springs Academy.   Officer Kurer […]

9-22-21 nfdl school district implements mask mandate

The North Fond du Lac School District has implemented a 15 day masking requirement for students and staff following a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.   Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says the requirement went into effect Tuesday.  Sadoff says the masking requirement was implemented after the District met the threshold for COVID  in-school spread, and the number of District residents who have contracted the virus.  Sadoff says not everyone is happy with the decision.  […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin state Sen. Andre Jacque has been discharged after a five-week hospital stay that included being intubated and placed on a ventilator due to pneumonia caused by COVID-19. Free mobile COVID-19 testing  for all Fond du Lac County residents ages two and older starts this week.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the Health Department is partnering with Accelerated Clinical Laboratories to provide the mobile testing in Rosendale and Fond du Lac starting Tuesday.  Testing will be held from noon to 5pm Tuesdays at the Rosendale Community Center and Thursdays at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds.   The testing is free […]

9-21-21 vaccination rates vary widely on uw-system campuses

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — University of Wisconsin officials say student vaccination rates for COVID-19 vary widely among the system’s campuses. At the Madison campus, 91% of students are fully vaccinated, the highest number among the system’s universities. The lowest number of vaccinated students are at UW-Parkside where 38% have been inoculated. Other campuses range from 75% at La Crosse to 46% at Stevens Point.
