MILWAUKEE (AP) — The number of cheeses, yogurts and butters competing at this year's U.S. Championship Cheese Contest is at an all-time high.  The contest organizer, Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, says that's because cheesemakers are seeing what a win does for sales.  Wisconsin cheesemaker Emmi Roth USA won last year's world championships with their Grand Cru Surchoix,  and since then they've seen sales of that cheese increase by 20 percent. 3-7-17 scrap metal owner posts $1 milliion cash bond

The owner of three scrap metal companies accused of defrauding a Fond du lac scrap metal company out of millions of dollars has posted $1 million cash bond.  Sterling Kienbaum made his initial Fond du lac court appearance Monday on charges of  racketeering and theft.    District Attorney Eric Toney says Kienbaum is accused of stealing $14 million from Sadoff Iron and Metal between 2009 and May of 2015. 3-7-17 tribe threatens to withhold casino payment

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin Indian tribe is threatening to withhold nearly $1 million in casino payments to the state because of a dispute with the expansion of another tribe's gambling operation in northern Wisconsin.  Stockbridge-Munsee President Shannon Holsey notified Gov. 2-25-17 area law enforcement busy with vehicle runoffs

Glare ice is reported on area roads Friday evening resulting in several vehicle run-offs.  In the Fond du Lac and Dodge county area  National Weather Service meteorologist Sarah Marquardt says  more snow is forecast for Friday night and Saturday.  Rescue personnel were called to a two vehicle crash on Highway 23 near Hilltop Drive around 5pm Friday.  One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  Glare ice was […]

2-23-17 sheriff’s office warning: stay off lakes and ponds

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to stay off ice on area lakes and ponds.  Unseasonably warm weather coupled with strong winds and rain have rapidly deteriorated ice conditions.  Sheriff’s Lieutenant Bill Tadych says the area DNR warden says most sturgeon spearers have pulled their shanties off the lake.
