The Fond du Lac Salvation Army's Red Kettle  Campaign has surpassed its $145,000 goal.  Salvation Army captain, Steven Wilson says the fund drive collected more than $152,000.  Money raised during the holidays helps  eligible  Fond du Lac County families at or below  130% of the poverty level.   Social Services Director Ron Jacobson says the  food pantry doubled its service load in August providing 33,000 lbs. of food for more […]

1-27-15 boy dies in lake winnebago accident

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — An accident on Lake Winnebago has taken another life.  The Winnebago County Coroner's Office says an 8-year-old boy has died after he was pulled from the icy lake water Sunday. The child's father died shortly after their Jeep broke through the ice about 7 a.m. The victims were from Sussex. Authorities say the two were on the lake to ice fish when they broke through.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin state Superintendent Tony Evers says he fears "more divisive mandates" for public schools are coming, and he is calling on the Legislature to "hit the pause button." Evers made the comments today at the annual state education convention in Milwaukee, without elaborating on what he meant. His spokesman Tom McCarthy says he was referring to a school accountability bill that Republicans are working on.
